Introduction

[Domain name] Domain

Describe the clinical or administrative domain this IG addresses. Explain why this domain is important in Swedish healthcare, what role it plays in patient care or information exchange, and why it has been prioritised for FHIR standardisation. Example: clinical laboratory results, referrals, care plans, prescriptions.

Scope

Define what this IG covers and what it does not. Specify the types of use cases, clinical scenarios, or information exchanges in scope. Mention any explicit exclusions or boundary decisions. If this IG is meant to be used as a base for more specialised guides, say so here. Example: "This IG applies to X within the context of Y. It does not cover Z. Derived guides may restrict or extend the scope as needed."

Purpose

State the goal of this IG. Explain what problem it solves, who it is intended for (implementers, vendors, healthcare providers), and how it fits into the broader Inera and Swedish e-health landscape. Reference any national or regional programmes, standards, or mandates that motivated the work.

Terminology

On Inera Terminologitjänst all referenced CodeSystems and ValueSets developed by Inera can be found.

Dependencies

This IG has a dependency to SE-core, defined by HL7 Sweden. This is currently reflected in the profiles that inherit from SECore profiles.

Documentation

More information about Inera Core can be found here. Inera Core is part of RIVTA – the reference architecture of Swedish healthcare.

Governance and guidance

FHIR profiles are managed by Inera: Source code.

A description of conformance requirements and guidance for Inera's FHIR IGs can be found on the Inera FHIR Landing Page.

The Inera FHIR landing page provides an overview of conformance requirements that apply to Inera's FHIR standards. This includes for example the mandatory rules for interpreting MustSupport, the formal validation requirements that implementers must follow, the expectations for producing narrative texts and governance for how Inera Terminology is versioned, as well as security and client and API non-functional requirements.

The landing page also offers help to developers to understand how to work with Inera's FHIR standards. This includes a guide on how to read an Implementation Guide. Users will also find instructions on how to use some of the FHIR tools, such as validation setup.
